Welcome to nursing at Mercy Medical Center. We invite you to learn more about the special quality of nursing here, the opportunities, the programs, and our nursing units and teams. As you review our site, you will learn about Mercy’s commitment to patient- centered care and nursing excellence. Mercy nursing has a rich heritage in Baltimore and a history of honoring the dignity of each patient and keeping a healing touch in all we do.
We also have a state-of-the-art hospital in our new Mary Catherine Bunting Center at Mercy. Opened in December 2010, The Bunting Center is an 18-story building with all private patient rooms, including 32 critical care beds, 15 operating rooms, three eco-friendly rooftop gardens, and expansive patient room window views of the city.
At Mercy, we are committed to our mission to serve our community and to provide quality, compassionate care through our care delivery model. Our nurses employ Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring to create a caring presence with patients, families and co-workers.
With our Professional Practice Model as our foundation, we offer programs to support leadership, care delivery, recruitment and retention, collaborative practice, cultures, evidence-based practice, research and innovation. Our professional practice councils use shared decision-making to promote nursing’s mission, vision and philosophy. Through our various programs, we offer nurses opportunities to learn new skills and meet their career goals.
