The 12th floor collaborates with various professionals within Mercy Medical Center. The care is designed to provide a comprehensive and holistic approach to patient care. This goal is met by assisting the patient and their family in the pre-admission, admitted, and rehabilitative phases of their illness.

  • A JOINT EFFORT

    • Nurses have the opportunity to participate in teaching "A Joint Effort," a pre-surgery program offered free to Mercy orthopedic patients. The program is designed for patients who will undergo total joint replacement surgery at Mercy and provides instruction on what to expect before and after the procedure. Patients receive a tour of the medical floor and physical therapy unit to become acquainted with the rehabilitative equipment that will be used following their surgery. Specifically, the Mercy total joint replacement program reviews:

      • Pre-operative instructions

      • What to expect the day of surgery

      • Pain Management

      • Post-operative care

      • Equipment

      • Rehabilitation programs

      • Discharge alternatives
