Nurse Intern Counseling:
Provide support to:
  • Assist in the transition from student to nurse in practice.
  • Guide preceptors in nurturing new colleagues.
  • Create an avenue of communication for new nurses that assist them in the management of non-clinical challenges in the workplace.
Symposium Series:
Our symposium series was created to promote the educational needs and professional development of our nurses. Our goal for these conferences is to present you with educational opportunities that enhances and impacts your own clinical practices, while providing an opportunity to network with other nursing professionals. Some of our past conferences included: Diagnosis and Treatment of Breast Cancer, Ethical Decision Making - Impact on Nursing and Standing Strong against Osteoporosis and Certification and Credentialing - The positive effect on Patient Care (presented by the ANCC).

Some of our past conferences have included Ethical Decision Making-Impact on Nursing, Spinal Reconstruction, Domestic Violence and Pain Management.

Symposium Series -- Hold the Dates (Topics to be announced)
  • September 17 2003, Managing Urinary Incontinence
  • November 6, 2003, Panic Disorders
High School Outreach:
  • Promote the benefits, skills and rewards of a nursing career.
  • Coordinate the development of a Future Nurses' Club in select high schools.

  • Through a speakers' bureau, offer information on:
    • Formal education process of nursing
    • Career track opportunities
    • - Future career development
    • Licensing information
Education:
Provide education for nurses that fosters knowledge and professional development, and offers networking opportunities with other nursing professionals.

Career Development:
  • Provide information on certification opportunities.
  • Assist nurses with the application process to obtain certification.
  • Examination preparation
  • Develop onsite opportunities to attend activities related to local chapters of various nursing organizations.
