Nursing’s Symposium Series:
The Symposium Series was created to promote the educational needs and professional development of nurses. Our goal for these conferences is to present nurses with educational opportunities that enhance and impact clinical practices and empower nurses, while providing an opportunity to network with other nursing professionals.
The events are open to all nurses, nursing students, and faculty within the Baltimore Metro area. Those who attend these events are provided with an array of topics presented by experts in their field. Contact hours and dinner are provided.
Some of our past conferences have included: You Will Not Die Alone; Easing Your Patient’s Pain - An Overview of Pain Management Alternatives; Mock Trial: Nursing Care from a Legal Point of View; and Integrating Evidence- Based Practice, Research and Innovations into your Professional Practice.
High School Outreach:
The High School Outreach Program is a structured program offered to local area high schools to advance the nursing profession by promoting the value of a career in nursing. Since 2002, several hundred students have participated in this program where guest nurse speakers present various topics related to specialty fields of nursing. Students are provided information on career path steps toward selecting and entering schools of nursing. Each summer a select group of students are chosen to participate in our Summer Internship Program. The internship students are provided an immersion experience with Mercy nurses in various areas. Students who participate receive guidance through their nursing career path to promote retention.
